Stair Runner Width: How wide should my stair runner be ?

Aim for a 10 cm margin on each side of the runner and staircase edge. This is completely variable and up to personal preference. A balanced gap either side gives good impact, however a slice of exposed stair may be more up your street.

Winding Steps: Can I use a runner on winding steps?

Flatweaves are supple and flexible, therefore perfect for winding steps. When there are at least three winding steps over a 90-degree turn, stripes can align in the step crutch. A skilled fitter is key to having this look totally perfect.

Measurement: How much do I need?

For straight steps, measure one riser and tread, including the “nose” (see drawing A). Multiply by step count. For winding steps, measure the outside perimeter (see drawing B). Add 50cm per flight. We don’t expect our customers to measure their own stairs, our estimators have it down to a fine art.

Stair Rods: Are stair rods necessary?

Grippers hold the runner, but decorative stair rods add flair. Browse styles in the stair rod section.

Landing: What about landings?

Landings differ in shapes, sizes and vibes. We have set out a Complete Guide to Landings, with visual examples displaying each option and their effect.

Underlay and Gripper: What underlay is best?

We use rubber crumb and felt underlay with flatweave. Microplast gripper hold the flatweave tightly in place. For any loose runners, we provide and fit Anti-Slip Underlay.

Lead-Time: How long does it take?

Our runners are woven to order, if your length requirements are not in stock this can take 8-12 weeks – however this can vary depending on your requirements. Once estimated, we’ll be sure to check stock of your favourite design. If for any reasons the lead-time doesn’t suit you – we can usually find something equally good or if not preferred!

Care: How do I clean my runner?

We recommend vacuuming regularly. For spills, blot liquid and dab with upholstery shampoo.

Lifespan: How long will the runner last?

It varies based on the individual but we ensure our runners are fitted to an exceptional standard – therefore providing they’re taken care of, they can last anywhere from 7-10 years. Shoe-free policy helps. Domestic use only.

Sample: Can I get a sample?

Absolutely! You can order free samples with us. We recommend short listing a few and getting in touch. Larger samples available with refundable deposit.

Brochure: Is there a brochure?

We offer a brochure for Roger Oates only. Having been experts in this field for donkeys, provide us with a brief and aim and we can give you some personal recommendations across Fleetwood Fox and Hartley Tissier too. Our website holds the full catalogue of products across our brands.

Bespoke: Can I choose a custom colour?

It’s so exciting to do your own thing and create something completely bespoke. Choose a base design and pick your own coloured yarns in store. Contact our sales team for bespoke options.

Returns: What's the returns policy?

Unfortunately, we are only able to cancel orders so long as they haven’t gone into production – if the product has been produced, it is not refundable.
